St. Luke's Celebrates a
Special Wedding Anniversary!
Carol and Bob Crowley celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 27. They met at a Valentine’s Day Dance in 1958 at Grandview College in Des Moines, Iowa where they were both students. They were married on August 27, 1960, at Central Lutheran Church in Des Moines.

They have been blessed with four sons and three granddaughters: Tim, Lisa and granddaughters, Elizabeth (Sam) Reeves and Rachel (members of St. Luke’s), David and granddaughter, Ashlee, in Windsor, CA, Douglas deceased in 1998, and Phillip (a member of St. Luke’s).

Bob and Carol moved to Orlando from West Des Moines, Iowa in 2001 to be closer to family. They transferred their membership from the Lutheran Church of Hope to St. Luke’s in 2002 and have served in various ministries throughout the years. Currently, they are both facilitators of the Thursday evening GriefShare group. Congratulations Carol and Bob!
St. Luke's Celebrates a Homecoming
St. Luker Gene Barchuk passed away on August 14 at the age of 80. He is the beloved husband of Shelia Barchuk and father to five children and grandfather of six. Gene was born in Chelm, Poland on January 3, 1940. At age 9, his family was sponsored to come to America from Germany. He loved America from the minute his feet hit the ground. He worked from age 10 years old, delivering newspapers until age 78 when he retired from his janitorial business. Gene also taught middle and high school biology, chemistry, and physics for 8 years. His true love, however, was farming and he later became the largest beef cattle farmer in Western Pennsylvania. In 1982, he left farming and moved his family to Florida where he became a successful business owner of a commercial janitorial company for over 35 years. Click here to read Gene’s full obituary. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will hold a Celebration of Gene’s life at a later date. Please continue to lift up the family in your prayers.
Norman S. Ward died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 21. He was 84 years old. Norman is the beloved spouse of Nancy Ward and father to two children (Scott and Carolyn) and two grandchildren (Addie and Nicholas). Norman and Nancy were married for over 57 years and met while he was working as an investigator for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour division. He went to the travel agency where Nancy was working to make business travel arrangements and Nancy’s boss asked her to make Norman a cup of coffee and that is how their life together began. In their retirement, Norman and Nancy worked together at Disney’s Epcot theme park as Special Event guides. Working side by side, they escorted wedding parties and convention groups for over 15 years together on Saturday evenings. Norman’s great passions in life were his wife, his family, and food! When he could combine all three, he was a very happy man. To read more about Norman’s extraordinary life, click here. Memorial gifts to honor Norman may be made to an animal shelter or SPCA location of your choice. A private family service was held earlier this month at St. Luke’s.

Harbor Chase Donates Supplies to
Educational Impact
Schools opened a few weeks ago and Harbor Chase residents took action to give the schools a successful opening. Harbor Chase collected school supplies to help the teachers and students have what they need for a good start to the school year. St. Luke’s applauds these seniors for their loving support of our Maxey and Mollie Ray Elementary School students.
"Change for Change"
A Message from Inside Out Jail Ministry

A big Thank You to St Luke’s for participating in the ISO Jail Ministry “Change for Change” by feeding/decorating your Pig!
During these challenging times, we appreciated the effort made in participating in this program by either decorating or donating to a pig. We had 15 people purchase 25 pigs and they raised over $3,400 to support those incarcerated to make a successful transition back into our local community.
