Ponder the seismic implications of prayer! Jesus prayed so often and so powerfully that his disciples asked him to teach them to pray. He wanted the temple to be a house of prayer for all nations. When his enemies wanted to find him, they knew they could find him at prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane.
The sheer force of Jesus’ prayer life humbles us. When I compare his communion with his Father to my own, I confess that prayer too often becomes perfunctory for me. The habit is there, but where is the power?
When the early church prayed the place was shaken (Acts 4:31). I’m not asking for an earthquake, but how about a faithquake? Perhaps our prayers do not move mountains, but do they move us? Let’s covenant together today to trust that God really wants the best for us. Stay with him long enough today to hear what he wants for you and then receive it from his hand.
