Acts 24: 27
27 When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, but because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews, he left Paul in prison.

New International Version (NIV)
Does time fly or does it stand still? By all accounts, it moves at the same, constant pace. But our perception of time changes, depending on our circumstances. Five minutes is always five minutes, but it feels different if you are under water.

What if you were under house arrest? Wouldn't time slow down? For two years, Paul had access to time with friends. Also he frequently shared the gospel with Felix. But Felix was hoping for a bribe. He preferred monetary compensation over the unsearchable riches of Christ. Even with limited personal freedom, Paul continued to fulfill his purpose.

Our times are still in God's hands. Henri Nouwen said we are enlarged, not diminished by our waiting. If we find ourselves waiting on the Lord, hoping in him, we remember that he renews our strength as we trust. He will fulfill his plan, right on time.

Pray with me:
Father, you have all the time in the world. Help us to use time wisely today. Though we have only just a minute, eternity is in it. "Take our moments and our days. Let them flow in ceaseless praise." In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
Our Monday through Friday devotionals will start in the book of Acts this year.  We will not hurry through the book.  We want to see what the Holy Spirit did in the early church so that we may discern what he is doing in us and through us.  Join us for these devotionals as we learn together about our King and his Kingdom in the world.

We also invite you to join us as we read through the Bible. Copies of the reading plan are available at Tallowood Baptist Church, or download your copy here:
