Acts 6:10
But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke.
New International Version (NIV)
Are you superstitious?  Rumor has it this a dangerous day.  Myriad awful movies have been made about how bad a day today could be.  I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all followers of Jesus:  our times are in God’s hands!  We live our lives not just on the Gregorian calendar but on God’s Standard Time.
When Stephen, one of the seven proto-deacons stepped into Apologetics and defended the faith, they arrested him.  Why?  Because they could not defeat the wisdom and Spirit in which he spoke.  They put Stephen on trial, but God was working even in that process.
Three thoughts to take with you on this magnificent day:  First, from Romans 8:28, “In all things God is working for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  God will work all things today for the greater good of making us like Jesus.  Second, “God has not given you the spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind.”  So live faithfully and fearlessly today. Third, “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”  Leave it to our God who emerged victorious from the tomb to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in our lives as well!
Pray with me:
Father, thank you for this excellent day.  You planned for me to wake up and live today.  Help me not to waste your time or mine today.  Instead, help me to redeem the time for your greater purposes and my eternal good.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
