Central High School's 4th annual Career Fair and 2nd annual Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Career Fair took place Tuesday. Students at both fairs learned about a variety of careers from professionals.

Apprenticeships will help teens get a head start on a career
D51 is one of three districts in the state developing apprenticeship programs that will begin next fall. Learn more about the program and its background here.

Calendar contest winners named
The winners of this year's Bank of Colorado Calendar Contest were honored at a reception earlier this month. First place winners from each grade will have their artwork featured in this year's calendar. The artwork of Palisade High 9th-grader Cavan Pawlowski (above) will be featured on the cover. Students celebrate Veterans Day
Students at Chipeta, Lincoln Orchard Mesa, Loma, Shelledy, and Wingate honored veterans during Veterans Day programs last week. Above, Loma students show off the hats, flags, and pencils the Fruita Lions Club brought to the school Nov. 10.

Dec. 3 - Candy Cane Hunt. 11 a.m. Lincoln Park Barn. Free.

Dec. 6 - D51 School Board Business Meeting. 6 p.m. Harry Butler Boardroom, 455 N. 22nd.

Bookcliff kids say no to drugs
Bookcliff Middle School students marked part of Red Ribbon Week Oct. 28 by forming a giant Red Ribbon on the field north of the school. Thanks to Andrea Wiltse for her vision and coordination of this event!

Lego League Qualifier Awards
D51 elementary and middle school students competed in the FIRST Lego League State Qualifier Nov. 5 at Central High School. See the full list of winners here.

Congratulations to the October 2016 District 51 Students of the Month!
The Student of the Month luncheon honors two outstanding 8th- and 12th-graders from each District 51 middle and high school.CMU and Alpine Bank fund a $500 scholarship, which can be renewed annually, for each Student of the Month if they choose to attend CMU or WCCC. October honorees are listed here.
