Reminder: Oregon Wine Country License Plates Matching Grants Applications Due Sept. 15

The Oregon Wine Country License Plates Matching Grants Program opened August 11 and will close at 5 p.m. on September 15. Learn more about eligible applicants, projects and how to get started here.
The grant timeline is as follows:
  • Aug. 11 – Online application opens.
  • Sept. 15 – Online application closes.
  • Nov. 15 – Grant recipients announced.
  • Dec. 31, 2022 – Projects must be complete.

Tourism and Climate Action Watch Party, Oct. 12

Climate change has the potential to significantly impact travel and tourism in the coming years, but our sector also has a tremendous opportunity to be a catalyst for change, and to do so it is imperative that we work closely together. Travel Oregon, along with Tourism DeclaresThe Travel Foundationand the Oregon Coast Visitors Association invite you to co-host a Tourism and Climate Action watch party with your networks,  board of directors, key stakeholders and/or tourism leaders in your region or community on October 12 from 4-5:30 p.m. You do not need to be an expert, or committed to a climate action plan to engage in this conversation. During the watch party, a keynote presentation will be given by Jeremy Sampson, CEO of the Travel Foundation, Chair of the Future of Tourism Coalition and Chair of the Destinations Working Group for Tourism Declares a Climate Emergency.

To host a watch party, all you need to do is:
  1. Let us know if you’d like to co-host a watch party.
  2. Choose a location with streaming capabilities.
  3. Invite your party.
  4. We’ll do the rest (like provide Zoom link details, facilitated questions, and next steps).

    COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan Announced

    Yesterday, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL). SBA is offering new terms and conditions for EIDLs, beginning September 8, which could help travel businesses and organizations free up capital and cover expenses. SBA will initially process requests of $500,000 or less, and then process requests greater than $500,000 (up to $2 million) beginning September 24.
    If you’re interested in learning more about available funding programs, U.S. Travel is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, September 14 about available funding programs and a second webinar, specifically about SBA funding, on September 29. Additional details and registration coming soon.
