Hello Runner!
It is time!  We are so excited about our upcoming Couch to 5K training program, affectionately named Potato to Tomato, AND seeing each of you this Saturday.
This Saturday, June 17th, we will be meeting at the Shelby Park Nature Center at 7:00 am.  We will have a group at this first run that will be taking Biometrics (blood pressure, weight, heart rate, etc) from particpants that want to track their health stats over the course of the program.  They will be at the first run, and then again at another run in August to re-take participant stats.  This is not mandatory, but it is a great way to see how the benefits of running can affect your body over a period of time.  If you want to take part in this, please be at the Nature Center at 6:45 am so that you can have your stats taken and then are ready to run by 7:00.
For those of you who are new to our program, when you arrive on Saturday you will have 11 different pace groups to choose from for your first run.  We have fast groups, we have slower groups, we have in-between groups.  We seriously have a group for everyone!  When you choose a group on Saturday, don't think you have to stay with that group all summer.  Try out different groups over the course of our training until you find the perfect pace and the perfect group for you.  The first few runs are actually mostly walking, so do not be nervous.  YOU CAN DO THIS!
We will be sending out a weekly email about our training runs, so please make sure to keep up with your email in case we have to change our Saturday training locations.  Please also be sure to follow our East Nasty Potato to Tomato Facebook page. We will post training updates, pictures, or running tips there, so make sure you're following along.
Below are pictures from last year's first day of Potato to Tomato training.  Bring your smile, because we will be taking some photos!
