This week, as part of Global Read Aloud, both Kindergarten classes welcomed fellow kindergarteners from Toronto, Canada into our classrooms. Through the power of Skype technology, our students interacted virtually with their new Canadian friends to discuss the New York Times best-selling book " Duck! Rabbit!"
In its fifth year, the Global Read Aloud project was created with a simple goal in mind; one book to connect the world. Teachers around the world read the same book aloud to their students and then use technology to share the reading experience with other participating classrooms. Since 2010, more than 500,000 global classroom connections have been made in 60 different countries.
This project allowed for our St M students to use technology in a meaningful way, to learn about other countries and cultures and to share the love of reading. From Egypt Day and Monticello to STEM projects and Challenge Discovery, be sure to check out our St M FACEBOOK and TWITTER pages for this week's posts on St. Michael's culture, curriculum and community.

This Tuesday, October 20 at 8:30 a.m., the School is holding a chapel service to install Mr. Turner as the sixth Head of School. As this is a special occasion and dress up day, the dress code for students (per page 12 in the School handbook) is as follows:
- Grades K-3: a collared shirt (tucked in) and pants (no jeans); a dress; or a dress blouse with a dress skirt/pants.
- Grades 4-8: dress shirt, tie and long pants (no jeans); a dress; or a dress blouse with a dress skirt/pants.
Middle School families: Students should be dropped off at the Church (in lieu of the Middle School) by 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Carpools have been arranged to transport students back to the Singleton Campus after the service.
As this new chapter in our School's history officially begins, it is an exciting time to be at St. Michael's!
