Community Freedom Summit, Saturday |
|
|
Join the fight against Human Trafficking this Saturday, September 28, by attending the 6th annual Community Freedom Summit, hosted in partnership with Not For Sale: One Step At A Time and Walsh University at the Cecchini Center! We invite you to take part as one of our Freedom Educators by making an anti-human trafficking sign and lining the streets to educate our community. Your voice matters—join us in raising awareness and becoming an activist!
The day begins at 9 a.m. with the pouring of red sand in the creases of the sidewalks lining Maple St. as part of the Red Sand Project, symbolizing the hidden cracks, where victims of human trafficking fall. Enjoy food, beverages, and community partner tables at the Cecchini Center, before listening to the keynote speakers at 10 a.m., who will discuss the digital dangers of human trafficking. The day will conclude with a silent one-mile Freedom Walk, a time for reflection and a collective effort to raise awareness. Let’s stand together to give a voice to the voiceless and confront the digital threats in our community. We need your support! | Read More (PDF)

Brother Edmond Drouin Library Student Workers |
The Brother Edmond Drouin Library employs over a dozen student workers as Library Assistants who help us extend the reach of our services. While it may look like they are just hanging around the library smiling and having fun (which we hope they are!), they are helping us coordinate access to our resources whether it is lending out bones, checking out study rooms, or assisting us with one of our many projects! These students play a key role in the library, and we would like you to get to know them.

Library Student Assistant Spotlight: Isabella (Bella) Genovese |
Where are you from?
Twinsburg, Ohio
What are you studying?
Exercise Science, Pre-Occupational Therapy 3 + 2 Early Assurance Accelerated Track
What activities are you involved in?
President of Active Minds and Pre-OT Club, Internal Director of Cavathon, member of Cavs Coalition Anti Human Trafficking, Exercise Science Club, and Trek Club.
Anything else?
Also, I am in Walsh's Honors Program and a Walsh University Student Alumni Ambassador. And then work two jobs (one being the library) and the other at Dunkin'! Love reading, volunteering, and going outside for fun.
Have you ever used any of the library databases?
Yes, many Honors students (me included) use Academic Search Complete (through the online library) for scholarly research articles to use in papers, our JHP, and our thesis. I just had one of my friends come into the library today (she was at circulation for a couple minutes at the end of my shift) because she wanted to ask me where she could find research articles for a nursing paper. I directed her to ASC, and she said it helped a lot!
Why do you like working in the library?
I love interacting with Walsh staff and students, you really get to know who comes in/through the library!
