Everything But The Turkey
On Sunday and Monday, members of Federation's Women’s Philanthropy, Next Gen, and Real Estate Committee came together for the Edlavitch DCJCC annual community service event, “Everything But The Turkey.” We are proud to be part of this effort to prepare thousands of servings of festive Thanksgiving dishes for people experiencing food insecurity and homelessness in the Greater Washington area in partnership with DC Central Kitchen.

| On the Ground in Israel
Federation CEO Gil Preuss recently returned from Israel, where he met with grantees and connected with Israelis navigating the war's challenges. He recorded powerful stories from those impacted by over $12M in emergency grants —from doctors treating trauma patients to displaced students and Nova Festival survivors healing through art. Their message to our community was clear: thank you.

400 Israeli Emissaries Gather in Alexandria, VA
Our community proudly hosts one of the largest delegations of shlichim (Israeli emissaries) in North America. This month, 10 of our local shlichim joined hundreds of peers at the Jewish Agency for Israel’s annual conference. Rabbi Sarah Tasman, Federation’s Director of Jewish Journeys and Engagement, welcomed the group, celebrating their impactful work. As she said, “Connecting a diverse community like ours to Israel is no small feat, but our shlichim achieve it daily through meaningful relationships and bridge-building.”

| | Spotlight on Moving Traditions: Partnering to Empower Teens Against Antisemitism
To combat antisemitism, Federation is empowering local teens, including through a grant to Moving Traditions. This support fosters connections among diverse young Jews to explore the impacts of antisemitism and racism. Local teens Leo and Marin recently attended Moving Traditions' national Kumi leadership retreat, thanks to Federation's investment. Marin reflected, “I learned about our broader social systems that control both racism and antisemitism and how it affects each person differently.” Building on the conference's success, our grant will support a winter educator training and a spring family education day, where Leo and Marin will share insights with local teens.
