(DUOS) Doctoral Undergraduate Opportunity for Scholarship Program
Mon Oct 17 Online Application Deadline Call for Student Proposals 
The DUOS program bridges the gap between graduate and undergraduate research at Miami University. The undergraduate student and graduate student pair will work together on a research project under the supervision of a faculty member in a Ph.D. granting department. DUOS is open to any undergraduate student and any post-master’s doctoral student in good standing who agree to abide by program requirements. Read the DUOS Program Guidelines.

Undergraduate Research Award (URA) Program for Miami Undergraduates to develop a grant application requesting funding to support a faculty-mentored undergraduate research experience. These mentor/student partnerships encourage discovery, creative activity and/or novel, inquiry-based activity. Students must find a Miami faculty member willing to mentor an independent research project. Review the URA Program Guidelines carefully for application preparation and submission details.

Hosted by the Mallory Wilson Center for Healthcare Education, the Anatomy & Physiology Club, and the Trauma team from UC Health Hospital, this class is FREE and OPEN to all Miami students, faculty, and staff.  STOP THE BLEED national awareness campaign cultivates grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. The Challenge: How can we create a circular economy? Each five-member team must leverage its transdisciplinary makeup to collaboratively design and propose a product, service, business model, or other solution to a wicked problem of their choosing that can help us transition from a linear economic model to a circular economic model. www.wegeprize.org to learn more or email wicked@wegeprize.org with questions!  Participants contend for $65,000 (USD) in total cash prizes, all while helping to show the world what the future of problem solving looks like.

Returns to an in-person display of research posters during 3 poster sessions throughout the day in the Shriver Center John Dolibois Rooms, Oxford Ohio. Save the date for this signature celebration of inquiry, creativity, and knowledge creation. This celebration builds on a rich tradition of showcasing scholarly and creative works conducted by our undergraduate students, under the guidance of dedicated mentors.

Looking for External Summer 2023 Paid Undergraduate Research Experiences 
Search the PathwaysToScience.org database of 600+ summer research programs for undergraduates in all STEM disciplines. These are all fully funded opportunities including programs sponsored by NSF, NASA, NIH, etc.  Start your search in November, typically, application deadlines are in early January and February.

Miami University recently joined The Ohio Academy of Science as an Institutional Member. Because of this, you are now able to join the Academy at no cost. You must use your organization’s email when completing your Membership Registration, so the Academy can verify that you qualify as part of Miami’s membership.

How to join The Ohio Academy of Science

2. Begin your registration by clicking on “Click here to Register as a New Member”
3. Under the Individual Membership plan select either Professional or College Student
4. Use and pay for the membership with the discount code: MIAMI
5. Complete each part of the Membership Registration
6. Under Billing Option, please select Bill Me (pay by check). The discount code you entered will be applied to your membership and the bill will show a zero balance.
7. Complete the form and click submit.

HOW TO JOIN CUR  Open the CUR page www.cur.org  Navigate to the very TOP menu.  Click Join. Next, click on the "Activate My Enhanced Member Benefits".  Fill in the form. Council on Undergraduate Research publications and outreach activities are designed to share successful models and strategies for establishing, nurturing, and institutionalizing undergraduate research programs. Faculty, staff, administrators, students, and colleagues from all types of academic institutions and organizations form the dynamic CUR membership.
