2021 Open Studio Demonstrations and Sale
The first four sessions last weekend were great fun. Next sessions just ahead!
On two beautiful sunny days last weekend, special visitors came to the studio and enjoyed the safe environment, marvelous views, dynamic demonstrations, relaxed shopping and plenty of time to chat with Josh... who talked basically non-stop for about 8 hours on both days. (Don't worry. Talking is one thing he's really good at! And, luckily, he loves it!)
Check this Eventbrite page for information about dates and times for the next sessions. If your preferred time is "sold out," feel free to put your name on the waiting list and you'll have a shot at coming!
We also added a new session: Friday, Nov. 12, from 5 to 7 PM
(Note: photos above are credit to the New England Paperweight Collectors' Facebook page.)
The winner of the raffled 3.5" Megaplanet is Greg H. of Suffield CT. (Greg, we will send you your prize.)  Another Megaplanet treasure will be raffled during this weekend's Open Studios, which start Friday, November 12, at 8:30 AM.
Note: if you have registered but decide not to attend, goodness, please let us know. You can easily cancel via Eventbrite, which will automatically notify the next person in line on the waitlist that tickets are available. Or, call us at 413-625-6145. Other folks will appreciate the opportunity if you can't make it!
Vintage Brass Globe Stands with Planet
Last year, as some of you might recall, we discovered a box full of vintage solid brass globe stands and paired them with select Possibly Inhabited Planets. Today these vintage pieces make a reprise appearance, in two sizes of Planets: 1 7/8" and 1 5/8" diameter (a size Josh no longer makes). This limited collection is available only online.

If you couldn't make it to our Open Studio this year, you can always see a beautiful collection of Simpson glass, along with the work of many other impressive local artists, at Josh's own Salmon Falls Gallery, in the village of Shelburne Falls, MA.
Open 7 days, 11 AM to 5 PM
You can also meet and chat with Josh at two public events in the gallery this month:
  • November 14, from 2-4 PM, at a reception for the current exhibit featuring "cold-worked" glass art.
  • November 26, from 5-7 PM, as part of "Moonlight Magic" which runs from 4-8 PM throughout the village of Shelburne Falls.
Yankee Magazine recently listed Salmon Falls Gallery in its succinctly titled article, "49 New England Craft Fairs and Artisan Galleries for the Best Handcrafted Holiday Gifts." They wrote (and we could not have said it better):
"The walls, shelves, and pedestals in this sprawling, barnlike gallery routinely sport new work by close to 100 artisans—all living and working within a 50-mile radius, including Shelburne Falls’ own glass artist extraordinaire, Josh Simpson."
