Builders Blitz 2022: We're building 6 homes in 5 days!

In this issue of Habitat Happenings we feature a sneak peek to Builders Blitz 2022, which kicks off Feb. 7. This is an amazing effort to help change lives and the communities in which we serve.
Meet our six homeowners and the five builders who are donating their labor and materials to make dreams come true below!

Blitz 2022 homeowners

This year’s Blitz will change the lives of six Central Florida families! Below, they tell us what home means to them. You can read their full stories here.

Daniel & Oriana
Builder: PCL Construction

“A home is a place that not only blesses the family within, but the community it’s around,” Daniel said. “Home has always been like a lighthouse where you can come to find rest and peace but also to bring others to it for fellowship.”

Maria & Desmon
Builder: Pulte Homes

“We want to pass on something to our son that he can have forever,” Desmon said. “We want to show him hard work and determination is always worth it. We want to show him that his mom and I love each other and him and are determined to make a difference in our family no matter what we go through."

Wonda
Builder: Pulte Homes

“It’s so exciting and is a huge relief to finally have something that is my own. After all these years, I will have a stable place for my son when he visits me from college. I’m so thankful!”

Jessica
Builder: Jack Jennings & Sons

“I believe 100 percent that my home will help me create the future I want. My home will be a safe space to create my own world, have my own energy to think freely and creatively, and accomplish my goals.”

Naomi
Builder: Walker & Company

“I want my children to have what I never had and always wanted – a real home that’s ours for a lifetime. It’s been my dream to have a home for the longest time. I am so excited I don’t know what I’ll do.”

Neicoya
Builder: Park Square Homes

“Home is something I always wanted as a kid but didn’t necessarily get. Home to me means everything. It means that I have a reliable place to return to every day. Something I own and worked for.".

Closing time

Congratulations to Jaquira, who closed on her Habitat home in Juniper Bend last week! It was extra special since it was her daughter's 2nd birthday. Her little girl helped pass the documents and drew pictures during the closing.

Monthly Milestone: 2018

As we look back on our 35th anniversary, we think about all of the great things our volunteers have accomplished. We are also particularly proud about the fact that in 2018, we changed our name from Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando and Osceola County. This action helped expand our overall footprint in Central Florida allowing us to help more people in need.
