Thank you to everyone who supported, sponsored and attended IAR’s Metro Housing Summit in Fort Wayne last week. The two-day program was packed with expert insight and presentations on economic development and downtown redevelopment, regional quality of life strategies, new state resources for housing construction and much more.
IAR’s data analytics team also released new research at the Summit: “The Walkability Premium” studies growing homebuyer demand for walkable neighborhoods closer to daily necessities, shopping, dining and recreational amenities in cities across Indiana.
Older homes in urban neighborhoods are still more affordable on average than newer construction, but their prices are rising much faster because of their favorable locations.
For real estate professionals, this highlights a business opportunity – especially for younger homebuyers looking for walkable living on a budget.
Click below for the report, which leverages MLS data resources and includes snapshots of how these trends are playing out in and around downtown Fort Wayne, South Bend, Indianapolis, Muncie, Evansville and others.
