2015 Speed Mentoring Marathon – An evening of 1000 New Connections!
ACCES Employment created Speed Mentoring® to give new Canadian job seekers the opportunity to build a professional network of contacts that will support their career in Canada.  Our 2015 Speed Mentoring® Marathon accomplished this goal by creating over 1000 new networking connections between 320 mentors and mentees in just one short evening.  Mentees had the opportunity to directly engage with mentors in their sector and to gain valuable insights that they can apply to their job search and future careers. This year was our biggest ever Speed Mentoring Marathon with nine mentoring rooms.
Clients representing every ACCES program participated in the valuable networking opportunity, receiving advice on their job search and meeting with mentors in their field of work. In addition to the sector rooms:  Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Sales and Marketing and Supply Chain, we also offered three mentoring areas for senior leadership, entrepreneurs and youth.

Donation from RBC Foundation to Support Youth Employment Services at ACCES Employment
We are pleased to acknowledge the generous donation of the RBC Foundation in support of youth employment services and programs at ACCES Employment. This contribution will help us to continue to support a struggling but important segment of our population - young professionals striving to successfully launch their careers.
We are proud to collaborate with RBC on this important issue. We share a common goal of supporting youth across the GTA, by creating opportunities for them to utilize their skills and passion and become leaders of the future. Working together, ACCES and RBC can make a real difference in improving the 13.3% youth unemployment rate in Toronto (December, 2014).
Life at Celestica
Celestica Inc. is a multinational electronics manufacturing company headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Recently, job seekers from ACCES Employment were invited into their Toronto site to hear firsthand what life at Celestica is like.  A group of over 30 ACCES clients from the information technology, engineering, supply chain sectors as well as participants of our leadership and youth programs attended the valuable learning tour.
Groups of ACCES clients (job seekers) were led by Celestica team members between departments and work stations. At each stop, a specialized member of the Celestica team spoke about their work and career path. Many of them offered sound advice and lessons from their own career.
“I enjoyed meeting the engineers and staff of Celestica and learning from their experiences. The visit strengthened my interest in knowing more about the dynamic organization as a potential employer.”
- Javeed Ahmed Khan, participant in ACCES Employment’s Engineering Connections program

Creating a World of Difference through Online Services
For our 2015 World of Difference campaign, we engaged our community of supporters to contribute to the development of a Digital Connections platform at ACCES Employment.  New Canadians are faced with the reality of working in survival jobs while they continue to look for work in their field, supporting their families and children to settle in the city, learning a new language and culture, and re-building their lives without the personal support networks that they had in their home country.  While thousands of new Canadian’s access our services at our five locations, we know there are still many more who are not able to receive the help they need as they juggle multiple priorities.  These clients would benefit from online services that are accessible at more convenient times.
Our donor community responded with generosity and we raised more than $20 000!
