Isaiah 52:6-10
Therefore my people will know my name;
    therefore in that day they will know
that it is I who foretold it.
    Yes, it is I.”

How beautiful on the mountains
    are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
    who bring good tidings,
    who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
    “Your God reigns!”
Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
    together they shout for joy.
When the Lord returns to Zion,
    they will see it with their own eyes.
Burst into songs of joy together,
    you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted his people,
    he has redeemed Jerusalem.
The Lord will lay bare his holy arm
    in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see
    the salvation of our God.

New International Version (NIV)
When my little brother Darin was born, I couldn’t wait to tell.  We had waited an interminable nine months for his arrival.  Would we three older boys have a sister or a brother?  There were no ultrasounds.  Then when we knew he had come home from the hospital we raced from the bus stop through the village of Schrollbach to our third floor apartment where he awaited.  Darin was worth the wait!  The next day I couldn’t wait to go to my third grade teacher Mrs. Hergenrother to tell her my brother had come.  Some news is too good not to share!

“Go, tell it on the mountain . . .”  Hundreds of years before Christ was born, the prophet Isaiah envisioned God showing up and saying, “Here I am.”  Just as the prophet Isaiah had once said to God, “Here am I.  Send me,” God’s own Son came into the world and said, “Here I am.  I have been sent.”  Jesus was worth the wait.

When we tell people that God’s only Son has come into the world, what do we have to offer?  Good news – the King of heaven has come down to the earth to establish his kingdom.  The old is gone.  The New has come.  It is a peaceful kingdom, full of happiness.  In this kingdom God himself reigns over all as our true Ruler.  This is good news not only for ancient Israel, but for all the ends of the earth.  Our God saves.  Go tell it on a mountain, or in a valley or somewhere.  People need to hear.  Merry Christmas!

Pray with me:
Father, we thank you for the arrival of your Son.  Your beautiful world is still broken.  Come Lord Jesus.  We wait for you who are still worth the wait.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
   This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
