Jeremiah 1:4-5
The word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
New International Version (NIV)
Anyone who ever waited as the captains picked teams on the playground knows how important it is to be chosen.  To be the last one is to feel like a zero.  If they debate who has to take you, you become a negative.  On the other hand, it feels great to be chosen.

When God called Jeremiah he told him he had chosen him before he formed him in the womb.  Before he ever preached a sermon or did a good deed or helped the sick or read the Bible, Jeremiah was lovingly chosen by God.  So are you!

We are known even before we ever know.  God’s love for us is not conditioned on what we have done for him, but on what he has done for us.  We were chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world.  I think of a little boy named Grey in the NICU today.  I haven’t met him yet, but as his pastor I already love him.  God has great plans for Grey.  And also for you!
Pray with me:
Father, how can we ever thank you enough for choosing us on the basis of your sovereign love.  Now may all of your beautiful dreams for our lives come true as we surrender every minute of this day to you.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
