Walsh University and Partners Named Finalist in $160 Million National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engines Program |
Walsh University, known state-wide for its expertise in workforce development, is a valued partner in a Case Western Reserve University–led consortium that has been selected as a finalist in the U.S. National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Regional Innovation Engines Program. The Northeast Ohio Strengthening Manufacturing for American Resilience through Technology (NEO-SMART) consortium, led by Case Western Reserve University, is among only 15 finalists nationwide. Each NSF Engine finalist is eligible to receive up to $160 million over 10 years to build regional coalitions that drive innovation, strengthen supply chains, and create jobs. | Read More

A Career & Internship Fair will be held Tuesday, Sept. 30, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. in the Barrette Business and Community Center, with 50+ employers recruiting students from all majors for internships, part-time jobs, and full-time positions. Bring professional attire, update your resume with Alumni & Career Connections, and apply early—internships often fill a year or two in advance. Remember, an internship is required for every major.

2nd International AI Conference Call for Proposals |
Walsh University, in partnership with the University of Cape Coast (Ghana) and Notre Dame University – Louaize (Lebanon), invites submissions for the 2nd International AI Conference hosted online, Saturday, Nov. 22, from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The Proposal deadline is Friday, Oct. 3
Each proposal should list all contributing authors with contact information, include a title, a 75-word abstract for the program, and a 250-word summary for peer review. Authors will also identify the conference theme that best fits their project, such as:

Walsh University Receives Grant from Lykeion Fund to Advance Leadership Development |

Walsh University has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Lykeion Fund of Stark Community Foundation to launch an innovative leadership development program, Ancient Greek Philosophy for Tomorrow’s Leaders. This initiative reflects Walsh University’s mission to prepare students as leaders in service to others, guided by timeless values and ethical principles. The program will bring together student leaders from across campus, including Student Government, Resident Assistants, the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, and Cavs Cor Cordium mentors for a leadership series rooted in the classical Greek ideals of arête (excellence), wisdom, justice, courage, and self-discipline. Community Freedom Summit Highlights Strategies to Stop Human Trafficking |
The seventh annual Community Freedom Summit, hosted by Not For Sale: One Step At A Time in partnership with Walsh University, drew more than 800 students, educators, and community members to campus on Sept. 20. Keynote speaker Dr. Tony Talbott from the University of Dayton Human Rights Center explained that human trafficking is driven by economics and cultural norms, urging the community to disrupt demand by rejecting practices and attitudes that make exploitation profitable. | View Photos

Collection boxes are now placed across campus for the Cavs Cave Drive, an effort to provide food, hygiene items, and basic housewares for students in need. From canned soups and granola bars to laundry soap, towels, and bedding, every donation helps ensure that the Cave is stocked with essentials. Shout out to Walsh University senior nursing major and women’s soccer player Katie Corrigan, who has been named to the inaugural Allstate NACDA Good Works Team (Fall), one of just 20 student-athletes nationwide recognized for leadership, service, and community impact! Katie raised nearly $60,000 for Camp Kesem, a cause close to her heart that supports children whose parents are affected by cancer.

Walsh University faculty leaders Amy J. Heston, Ph.D., and Neil G. Walsh, Ph.D., collaborated with students on “Leveraging AI in Academic Research: A Student’s Perspective” published in Emerging Dialogues in Assessment, that showcased the creation of a stepwise model to explore how artificial intelligence enhances scientific research and academic learning. The project focused on applications in chemistry, biology, healthcare, and forensic science, while promoting student leadership, collaboration, and responsible AI use in alignment with Walsh’s mission to serve the common good. | Read More
