Dear Traveller:

When the weather outside is frightful, downtown Brevard is really delightful. It’s a true winter wonderland --  though often with milder weather than that description implies. A heavy snow can be beautiful, but this time of year, it’s also nice to leave the sleigh at home and just spend the afternoon browsing Main Street and then meeting the reindeer over at Oskar Blues for a cold one. Blitzen, as you might expect, is kind of a beer snob.

There’s more holiday here than you could shake a sugarplum at and we plan to make the most of our time in Transylvania County. Both Comet and Prancer are going to work in a trail run in DuPont. Donner and Vixen are super excited to check out the Aluminum Christmas Trees. Rudolph is planning to sit in on a bluegrass jam. And I? Well, I have precise instructions from the Mrs. about some local art she’d like to see under the tree. While the gang and I will only be around for a few more days (see you at the Christmas Parade!), you have all of December to get out and enjoy the season. So you better make your list, check it twice and don’t miss my very favorite time of year.

Happy Ho-Ho-Holidays!

44th Annual Downtown Brevard Christmas Parade
Saturday, December 5
3-4pm

Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow likely agree that the best reason to stick around for the holiday parade is to catch Santa on one of his junkets. But while waiting for everyone’s favorite jelly-bellied North Pole VIP, those along the parade route will be able to hear brass bands, see sparkling floats and get a peek at some of Transylvania’s favorite folks as they marching-ly interpret this year’s theme of “A Storybook Christmas.”

Bring your figgy pudding this way for more info.
