COVID-19 Response
ISC is focused on providing the best value for clients, with an emphasis on cross-team collaboration:
- ISC is co-leading the COVID Response Team, enabling the safe operation of Penn’s teaching and research mission, by managing the positive test rate.
- ISC partnered with UPHS, PSOM and Penn Wellness to launch the PennOpen Pass symptom tracker to campus, now used by 40K people daily.
- ISC worked with Student Health Services to develop the cloud-based Student COVID Testing Application with consolidated campus data.
- Following the successful negotiation of a Zoom Enterprise license, ISC led migration and governance efforts with most Schools across campus.

Amidst COVID-19, ISC is still focused on our five Strategic Goals and related projects:

Deliver High-Quality Services

1.8M and 48K virtual meeting participants during Q1 of FY21 for Zoom and Teams, respectively.

500+ campus phones have been migrated to the cloud-based PennFlex Phone, which provides enhanced features like off-campus calling to support remote operations.

35,200 wireless devices were connected to PennNet in Q1 of FY21, supporting remote work.

6K and 1,500 client support tickets managed during Q1 of FY21 by ISC’s Client Care and HireIT, respectively.

1.9M log on sessions, 2.4M business processes initiated, and 1.8M payments made in the first year of Workday@Penn.

The NGSS program successfully tested Financial Aid integrations as part of Release 1 (System Integration Testing) for late 2021 deployment, and continues to advance in both the Release 1 Student Records Integrations Testing and its Release 2 design and build for Spring of 2022.

Penn’s extensive data assets continue to expand in volume, variety, utility, and interdependence. To meet the future, we continue to innovate and adopt enhanced capabilities that support campus digital ambitions across the platform, analytics, and governance.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research continues to make advances on the Research Portal Program, an initiative providing new, centralized access to research administration information and tools across three projects: Grant Financial Management, Conflict of Interest and Extramural Disclosure, and the Research Portal.

The internal IAM project is replacing decades-old systems to strengthen Penn’s overall security. The PennPath project supports users outside of Penn who need access to University resources, including support for the PennOpen Pass symptom tracker.

Enrollment reached 10,222 (50%) for PennO365 Two‑Step Verification during Q1 of FY21. Several Schools and Centers are using ISC’s Two‑Step for O365 enrollment tools to smooth their migration path.

Exercise Fiscal Stewardship

ISC's cost mitigation plan focuses primarily on reduced expenditures on contractors, facilities, and vendors. ISC currently manages 311 vendor contracts with a total value of $59M. In Q1 of FY21 we were able to negotiate discounts of $3.6M.
