Dear Cottage Theatre family,
Are you having a hard time remembering what day of the week it is?
I know I am! In the theatre world we normally track time in cycles, all relative to opening night. The rhythm of putting on a show, from season selection to auditions to rehearsals to production, guides our sense of time. Without those cues, it's easy to feel a little disoriented. I'm sure you have your own work and family rhythms that are just as disrupted right now.
My antidote to that sense of feeling unmoored is to deliberately practice gratitude:
- I am grateful that Cottage Theatre exists within such a kind and caring community. (Thank you for all the good wishes that have been coming our way!)
- I am grateful to those of you who have sent in contributions even in the midst of this financially precarious time for arts (and other!) organizations. Thank you so much!
- I am grateful for the strong conviction that theatre enhances our lives and that we will appreciate the energy and human connection of an in-person performance even more once this crisis has passed.
While we wait for that moment, I am happy to share with you the next installment (#8) of our Top Ten Shows reveal. This particular show holds a special place in my heart, as we had to work especially hard to make it happen.
Be well . . . and spread kindness!
