Join Us in Empowering Youth This September
As the school year begins, YWCA Clark County remains committed to empowering our youth to build healthy, respectful relationships. Our Prevention Program plays a crucial role in stopping violence before it starts by educating young people about the importance of respect and accountability.
We want to share Logan’s story with you—a sixth grader who initially struggled to understand the importance of consent. Through our Prevention Program, Logan and his peers learned to hold each other accountable, transforming their behavior and understanding of respect. Logan even shared how he discussed consent with his girlfriend before a kiss, a powerful step toward building safer relationships.
Stories like Logan’s demonstrate the transformative impact our program can have on students. This month, we’re launching the Students Against Violence: Back-to-School Campaign, running until September 30th, to support all of YWCA Clark County’s work, including creating a ripple effect among youth that stops cycles of abuse.
Your gift will help us reach more students, empowering them to build a safer community. Please consider making a contribution to our campaign. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of our youth.

Boldly Moving Forward Together
In case you missed our announcement last week, we are living in a historic time as the first woman of color becomes a presidential nominee for a major political party. This milestone reminds us of the progress we've made, but it also calls attention to the critical challenges we still face—especially here in Clark County.
At YWCA Clark County, our mission is clear: to lead the fight against gender-based violence, empower our youth, and build a safer, more equitable future for everyone. Unfortunately, our community is not immune to the devastating impacts of violence. Over 50% of domestic violence homicides in our county occur within the BIPOC community—a stark reality that demands our immediate action.
To address this, we are partnering with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office to form a Domestic Violence High Risk Team, a crucial initiative aimed at preventing intimate partner deaths. This team will work to identify those at the highest risk and intervene before tragedy strikes. But we can't do this alone. We need your support to bring this program to life.
Join us in this vital work. To learn more about our efforts and read a powerful statement from our CEO, visit our blog. Together, we can make a difference—because the future we build depends on the actions we take today.

A Place Where Little Minds Grow Big Dreams
Choosing the right preschool is one of the most important decisions you can make for your child. At Y’s Care, we offer more than just a place to learn—we offer a community where your child can flourish.
Why Y’s Care Stands Out:
- Therapeutic Child Care: Y’s Care uses a therapeutic model to help children navigate challenging behaviors and emotions that may result from trauma. We work to develop a learning mindset among our students, preparing them with the cognitive and social-emotional skills needed to thrive.
- Play with Purpose: Our days are filled with hands-on activities that are as fun as they are educational. We blend play with learning to help children discover the world around them.
- Tailored for Every Child: Every child is unique, and our approach reflects that. We focus on individual strengths, encouraging children to explore their interests and develop at their own pace.
- Flexible for Families: We know that every family has different needs. That’s why we offer flexible schedules and support options to fit your lifestyle.
Your child’s journey starts here. Let’s make it an adventure they’ll love. To learn more about our program and how we can support your child’s growth, visit Y’s Care Preschool.

Calling All Changemakers: Join Us at the BIPOC Youth Summit 2024!
YWCA Clark County is excited to host our Annual BIPOC Youth Summit on November 9th & 10th. This year’s theme, Agents of Change, is all about empowering youth of color to become leaders in their communities, sparking change that resonates far beyond the summit.
For Youth:
This summit is your chance to connect with like-minded peers, engage in dynamic workshops, and discover your leadership potential. The summit will feature sessions on personal development, social justice, community building, and much more. It’s not just an event—it’s a movement. Whether you're interested in advocacy, self-care, or learning how to create meaningful change, there’s something here for you.
For Community Leaders:
We’re looking for passionate individuals to lead workshops that inspire and empower the next generation of changemakers. If you have a skill, insight, or story to share, we invite you to submit a proposal to lead a workshop. We’re particularly interested in sessions that explore leadership, advocacy, community care, and using social media for social change. This is your opportunity to give back to the community and guide youth on their journey to becoming Agents of Change.
Get Involved:
- Submit a Workshop Proposal: If you’re interested in leading a workshop, please submit your workshop proposals by September 16th. Let’s work together to create a meaningful experience for our youth.
- Youth Participation: If you’re a young person ready to learn, lead, and connect—or if you know someone who is—mark your calendars and sign up for the summit.
