In March 2024, Louisiana State University’s Chemistry Department in collaboration with Capital Area STEM and the LSU Gordon A. Cain Center for STEM Literacy proudly hosted the third annual You Be The Chemist Regional Challenge. This event showcases the passion for chemistry among young students and also fosters their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. The competition this year was particularly special as one of the winning team from our Regional Challenge went on to become the State Winners for Louisiana.

The Atlas Tigers Robotics Team, a group of exceptional middle school students from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has consistently excelled in the First Lego League Robotics competitions, showcasing their talent and dedication to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). NASA In-Flight Education Downlinks Opportunity
|
Connect your students with astronauts aboard the space station for a live question-and-answer session about living and working in space. The proposal period for Expedition 72 is now open until May 21 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) CST.
How to apply? First register here in the NASA STEM Gateway as a NASA STEM Gateway user and then register specifically for the Expedition 72 In-Flight Education Downlink engagement opening. Once registered, email JSC-Downlinks@mail.nasa.gov to request a current Expedition 72 proposal form. Completed proposal forms (along with supporting materials) are then to be uploaded to the NASA STEM Gateway by attaching them to your application.

Junior Science & Humanities Symposium - 9th - 12th Grade- This is designed to encourage and recognize achievement in STEM by high school students. They present their original research before a panel of judges and an audience of their peers to compete for scholarships.
