Ling Zhang

Dr. Ling Zhang is a SOLVE-CHD-funded postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Sydney. Her research focuses on enhancing cardiac care for multicultural communities through patient education, health literacy, and digital health innovations.
What is your favourite thing about your role?
Creativity is my favourite thing about my role because it allows me to think outside the box and develop meaningful solutions. I enjoy finding innovative ways to bridge gaps in knowledge and improve healthcare outcomes.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am currently working on an RCT evaluating a virtual nurse avatar that provides discharge education for Chinese-speaking heart attack patients.
Why is this project especially interesting or important to you?
This project is especially important to me because it leverages innovative technology to address language and cultural barriers in heart attack patient education.
What do you like most about SOLVE-CHD?
What I like most about SOLVE-CHD is the opportunity to form meaningful connections with experts across different fields, working together to improve cardiovascular care.
What is a recent achievement you’re proud of?
I am proud of leading my very first commentary paper on heart disease prevention among Chinese immigrants, highlighting the critical role of health literacy in improving cardiovascular outcomes.
What do you like to do outside of research?
Outside of research, I enjoy craft work and gardening, as they allow me to be creative and unwind. I also recently adopted a kitten, and spending time with my new furry friend Mimi has been a joyful and rewarding experience.
