It's already March, and our students are gearing up to finish their first round of midterms and are excitedly looking forward to Spring Break! 

Meanwhile, you may have noticed that the Office of Parent and Family Relations has recently changed our name. We're now the Office of Family Engagement. This new name better reflects our mission of ensuring that all Blue Jay Families feel like a part of the Hopkins community.

Our panelists will also share what they learned from their summer experiences and how to make them possible through funding opportunities! Please register online to attend.

Commencement is just around the corner!  We are busy preparing for this momentous occasion and  are excited to welcome you and your family members to campus in May.  Please save these dates:

As we speed through the spring semester, here are some resources to help your student secure a summer internship:

1. For research opportunities, visit the Hopkins Office of Undergraduate Research (HOUR) at the Imagine Center, or check out researchers that are actively recruiting at Hopkins on ForagerOne.

2. For on-campus internships, visit SMILE, the website that hosts all student employment opportunities.

3. For off-campus internships, visit the Imagine Center to meet with Life Design Educators from the Life Design Lab, and keep an eye out for social media posts and email updates about various career fairs. 

4. For pre-health opportunities, visit the Office of Pre-Professional Advising's page on Pre-Health Opportunities. Be sure to subscribe to their newsletter for weekly updates.

5. For community-related opportunities, visit the Center for Social Concern and they are sure to have some recommendations for your student. 

Not all summer internships are paid but the Life Design Lab has grants that help support students through the summer as they gain invaluable experiences. 

Is your graduating student looking for full-time opportunity before graduation, or looking to connect with employers to explore available opportunities? JobsForJays (JFJ) is the answer!

JFJ is a hiring initiative intended to help graduating students find a full-time job by graduation. The Life Design Lab will be hosting a variety of events and promoting job openings from 50+ employers March 23–April 3.

Please encourage your student to sign-up to be the first to know more about upcoming opportunities. If you are an employer with job openings for the end of March and would like to recruit Hopkins students, please fill out this interest form.

SNF Agora's first marquee debate, featuring Karl Rove and Symone D. Sanders, closed out the 2023 Elijah E. Cummings Democracy and Freedom Festival. 

At the outset of Wednesday night's debate, the audience was decidedly tilted. Polled on whether Congress should take action to secure voting rights for citizens, 91% resoundingly chimed in "yes."

By the end of the discussion—in which political strategists Karl Rove and Symone D. Sanders argued opposing perspectives—there was evidence of a slight but perceptible shift. Only 81% of the audience was now "yes", with nearly half of the crowd expressing some uncertainty about their positions.
