Remembering Charles Simic and Adolfo Kaminsky
We were sad to learn that Charles Simic and Adolfo Kaminsky passed away recently. Simic, a former US poet laureate and winner of the Pulitzer Prize, was 84. He wrote more than 30 poetry collections, according to his obituary in the New York Times, including The Monster Loves His Labyrinth from Copper Canyon/Ausable Press. Kaminsky, a renowned photographer, was 97, and during WWII, he saved thousands of lives while working as a forger for the French Resistance. His story and photographs are documented in DoppelHouse’s Adolfo Kaminsky: A Forger’s Life by Sarah Kaminsky, his daughter. Read more via the Washington Post.
