Students have returned and campus is vibrant with the beginning of the semester. As your students adjust to a new semester, remind them to take care of themselves - eating, sleeping, exercising, and spending quality time with friends. All of these are vital to their health, in addition to engaging in their coursework and other commitments.
As always, review past issues of this newsletter on our Stay in Touch page.

| Farmer School of Business Welcomes Students |
|
|
As the Farmer School of Business prepared to welcome our Farmer School students back for the start of the semester, one of our most important tasks was to create a plan that recognized the impact that the pandemic had on their preparedness for college and career success. We wanted to set realistic expectations and provide support resources to ensure that students understood the role they played in their educational journey.
We created a Statement of Student Expectations, and our dean filmed a video explaining what it was and why it was critical to our students’ success. The statement and video were emailed to all FSB students the Friday before classes started.
We believe the concepts, Prepare, Show Up, Share, Support and Elevate, and Celebrate Success, apply to all students – not just business students, and not just those in college.

Student Employee Hiring Steps |
If your student receives an offer after applying to positions through Miami's jobsite and runs into an obstacle with the hiring process, you can use the steps below to help coach them through the process.
|
- Students must receive an offer email from Miami Human Resources BEFORE they are hired.
- They will need to then indicate acceptance of the job in the Miami system, visible by logging in using the same credentials they applied with.
- Once they have received a job offer, they should review the link that lists the types of documents that they must bring to a Human Resources I9 appointment.
-
Students should call Human Resources at 513-529-3131 to schedule the I9 appointment and then attend that appointment in room 15 of Roudebush Hall.
- Remember that only original documents are accepted. Miami is unable to accept copies or online review of I9 compliance information.
-
Students should not start work or training until they have visited Human Resources and received their work authorization notice email.
