Are you sure, God?" Have you ever prayed that prayer? How do we know for sure what God is saying to us?
David knew the city of Keilah in Israel was in trouble. Using the priest Abiathar's ephod, David asked if he and his men should protect the people from Israel. Maybe the priest used the urim and thummim. One pastor called them holy dice. We don't exactly know how but God said yes.
When David asked his men to join him in the battle, they said, "Ask again." So David did. "Are you sure God?" God was sure. Consequently, so was David. They went into the battle.
On a few occasions when I have asked God for direction, I needed to be sure. Not all decisions are of equal importance. God never plays "hide and go seek" with his people. Instead, he invites us to seek him with our whole hearts. God promises we will find him. Is he sure? We can be sure that God is sure of his plans for us. Ask him, obey him, and trust the results to his loving leadership.
