As the time of the pandemic now has its own unknown span, there emerges a sense of ongoing chaos. Join Fellowship members Mark and Suzanne Marnocha to explore what previous times and voices have to say about the current pandemic. We will look at psychology, public health, spiritual sources, and historic prophetic voices to help us find our way forward together.

Summer Theme: Finding a Way
This summer we are focusing in worship and other ministries on the theme of Finding A Way. Our faith community, along with our wider world, is finding our way forward in complicated and often difficult ways. There is so much uncertainty, with the Covid-19 pandemic, ongoing need for physical distancing, and justice uprisings, but we know for sure that we will continue to be a community of love and hope that finds our way forward! We will be using the imagery of water this summer because even while we are gentle, we can be stronger than the hard things, and water can always find a way forward.

Our Traveling Chalices Need Homes! Sign up HERE to host one of the chalices in the coming months!
As we continue in an ongoing time of physical distance from one another, we are finding creative ways to tangibly connect with each other and our UU community. The new Traveling Chalice project will have four chalices visiting various homes at different times, and bringing a part of the Fellowship to you!
If you sign up, you will be assigned a week, and will receive a kit on your doorstep including a chalice, candles and matches, a journal to make any notes about the chalice and its visit to your home, and some simple resources. Feel free to use the chalice as much or little as works for you, and we invite you (if you wish) to share in our Facebook group HERE about the chalice’s visit to your home.

Registrations For All Religious Education Classes Are Now Open!Registrations for the year are due on September 27, 2020.
In order to provide a safe learning experience for our children, registration of all children between the ages of Pre-K through 12th grade is required in order to receive Zoom links. Please make every effort to register your child(ren) by the due date, as this will help us keep our families better informed about current happenings and use our staff resources most efficiently.

Wednesday evening youth program:

There is a $20 registration fee for each child; the fee for families with more than two children is $45. Scholarships are available– please contact Kim Hartman, director of religious education, at kim@fvuuf.org for information. Being a TeenBeing a Teen (BATS) is a new expanded version of our UU Identity and Coming of Age programs for all high school age youth this fall. The class will meet via Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month 6:30-8:30 PM during the program year.
We are excited for this new and updated version of our popular Wednesday night programs for our Fellowship teens. Not only will the program cover UU Identity and Coming of Age content, but we have added the exciting new and relevant content areas of sexuality and life skills as well. This experience will give our youth the chance to connect with Fellowship friends and the opportunity to deeply consider how they want to live their values today and as they grow into young adulthood.
The areas of concentration for each age group are:
9th grade – finding a place in the Fellowship/ leading worship for the Fellowship
10th grade – mentor relationship/ service to the larger community.
11th grade – service to the Fellowship/ supporting 9th & 12th graders
12th grade – leadership/ bridging/ leaving the nest
There is no fee for the course at this time. We hope to incorporate annual UU heritage or justice work trips into the course, and a fee of $250.00 will be collected if we can safely take a trip in the spring. Scholarships are available.

Given this year’s overarching justice focus on anti-racism at the Fellowship, and Rev. Leah’s sermon (watch HERE) on August 9, your Justice Action Ministry facilitator team wants to bring your attention to this webinar series hosted by the UUA’s Side with Love Campaign: It will focus on the BREATHE Act, legislation being introduced by Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), which “seeks to reform federal laws and eliminate funding for federal programs that criminalize Black, Muslim, and immigrant communities, reinvesting our resources in community solutions for education, health, and the environment.” Webinar topics will explore divesting funding from harmful criminal legal-systems, investing in new creative approaches to safety, allocating funding, environmental justice and public health, and holding officials accountable.

Please save-the-date for our DRIVE THRU Mingling of the Waters at 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 13th!Our annual Mingling of the Waters worship service will be at 10:00 am on Zoom, as usual, followed by a late afternoon celebratory car parade at our property. Staff and other leaders will be present to wave from a safe distance. You’re invited, as you are each year, to bring a small vial of water from wherever life has taken you lately—near or far—to pour in our common vessel.

| A Note About Fellowship Activities and Staff Though the Fellowship building remains closed, our virtual doors are open and accessible! Your ministers are available to provide pastoral care and support via phone, email, video conferencing, and social media. Program staff is working to deliver meaningful worship and creative opportunities to engage with the Fellowship community in a variety of ways.
Your administrative staff continues to provide support with limited office presence. All core staff will continue to monitor their voice and email messages and respond to you as promptly as they can.
We will continue to communicate any significant or urgent changes to the Fellowship’s operational status via all Fellowship emails. Normal (or new normal) offerings and activities will continue to be communicated via the Fellowship’s Weekly Scroll. Announcements and events will be posted on our Facebook page and all are welcome to share in our Facebook group.
