Capitol Christmas Tree Makes its Way to D.C. from Oregon The West Lawn of the Capitol is glowing with 2018’s Capitol Christmas Tree harvested from the Willamette National Forest. The 82-foot tree is the first Noble Fir tree to stand tall on the West Lawn of the Capitol. In early December, Oregon Tourism Commissioners and Travel Oregon staff, fourth grade essay winner Brigette Harrington and her family, along with dozens of Oregonians, traveled to Washington D.C. to celebrate the lighting of The People’s Tree. This was the crowning moment of a year-long project that brought on new and existing partnerships with the United States Forest Service, Willamette National Forest, Choose Outdoors and the Willamette Valley Visitors Association.

National Plan Your Vacation DayJoin us on January 29 to help get Oregonians to commit their time off for the rest of the year. Last year more than 9,659 vacation days went unused in Oregon. See how we stack up against other states. Research shows that individuals who plan are more likely to use all their time off, take more vacation days at once and report greater levels of happiness at work and at home. Use the following resources from U.S. Travel to engage with your audience and spread the word: Access the toolkit, here.
