Martin has the unenviable task of replacing a legend, Steve Shreve, in the MSCF program.
“Steve’s a legend, not just in academia. I know him from the research community, where he’s also a legend..."
Martin came to CMU from Zurich, Switzerland, a year and a half ago, where he was Assistant Professor at ETH Zurich for five years.
Steve Shreve said, “Martin Larsson is a first-rate mathematician working in the field of quantitative finance. He is an excellent teacher, a visionary, and a man with high ethical standards. It is time for younger, creative, energetic leadership of the MSCF program, and I can think of no one more qualified for that role than Martin.”

MSCF's Lunar New Year Celebration
新年快乐, 恭喜发财
The MSCF program held its first Lunar New Year Celebration with alumni and students virtually on February 16th, 2021.
Everyone participated in a fun trivia where their Lunar New Year knowledge was put to the test. Darwei Kung (MSCF '06), Managing Director at DWS, was our guest speaker for the evening where he gave a talk on Gold and Money. Students were later given the opportunity to connect with our alumni and faculty/staff in the breakout rooms.
The MSCF Fellowships also raised $3,941, exceeding our campaign goal, with the help from Zihan Zhou (MSCF '16). The money will go towards financial support for our MSCF students.
A huge thank you to our alumni and students for giving back to our MSCF community!
