Draft Transformational Strategy Revision Update

On January 28, we released Travel Oregon’s Draft Transformational Strategy for review and public comment. The strategy is designed to be a high-level, 10-year framework—one that is a crucial response to adapt our mission to meet the most timely and significant opportunities and needs of our industry, our visitors, and Oregon residents. In response to input from the Oregon Tourism Commission on the draft strategy, as well as the public comment received, the commission has directed staff to proceed with revising the strategy and presenting an updated draft for review and adoption at a future commission meeting.
To support the revision process, a strategy review committee made up of three Oregon Tourism Commissioners and two industry trade association members - one each from Oregon Destination Association and Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association - has been formed. An update on the revision process will take place at the March commission meeting.

          New Agritourism Resources Available

Developing a Successful Agritourism Business in Oregon is a new online course for farmers and ranchers interested in adding an agricultural tourism business to their operation. This online course was developed by OSU Extension Service along with Oregon partners to help producers learn about the possibilities and complexities of opening farms and ranches to the public. Participants will learn about the types of agricultural tourism and determine if it is a good fit for their whole farm business. The course is self-paced and includes text, videos and worksheets. It is anticipated to take several hours to complete. Course registration is $20 with scholarships available upon request. Registration is open now through March 31.

The Oregon Agritourism Handbook, originally released in 2017, has been updated and refreshed to reflect new legislation and current best practices for active and aspiring agritourism operators in Oregon. In addition to the handbook, agritourism technical assistance is available on-demand for Oregon businesses that fill out the Agritourism Technical Assistance Request Form available on Travel Oregon’s industry website.
