After six intense preliminary rounds, twelve exceptional scholars have triumphed from a pool of 65 talented candidates, earning their place as finalists in Georgia Tech's highly anticipated annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. On Friday, April 5, 2024, these finalists will hit the stage, harnessing their research expertise, to deliver compelling presentations in a three-minute format.

Graduate Student Appreciation Week at Georgia Tech is a time to celebrate, recognize, and appreciate the invaluable contributions of graduate students at Tech. To honor and appreciate these valuable members of the Tech community, Grad Student Appreciation Week (GSAW) is celebrated annually during the first week of April. This year, GSAW will be observed from April 1–5 with a week full of events and activities designed to recognize and celebrate the contributions of graduate students at Tech. This initiative, sponsored by the Graduate Resource and Information Network (GRIN), is aligned with the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students' Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week.

| Funding Opportunity: Schmidt Science Fellows
|
Georgia Tech has been invited to nominate up to 7 candidates for the Schmidt Science Fellows Cohort 2025. Nominees must have been awarded or anticipate being awarded a Ph.D. in the natural sciences (including Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Sciences), Engineering, Mathematics, or Computing disciplines – and all sub-disciplines therein – between May 15, 2024, and June 30, 2025. The program is for (soon to be) recent Ph.D. graduates who want to pursue a research pivot representing a genuine and innovative disciplinary departure from their Ph.D. studies. The Quad Fellowship is a first-of-its-kind fellowship designed to build ties among the next generation of scientists and technologists. It offers an unparalleled blend of financial support ($40,000), cross-cultural exchange, and networking. Deadline is April 1.

The Google Ph.D. Fellowship Program was created to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional and innovative research in areas relevant to computer science and related fields. Fellowships support promising Ph.D. candidates of all backgrounds who seek to influence the future of technology. Students must be nominated by Georgia Tech via internal submission. The deadlines for Non-CoC students is April 22, 2024. The deadline for CoC students is April 15, 2024.

| Wellness Opportunity: April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the Wellness Empowerment Center is inviting survivors of sexual violence to share their stories at Georgia Tech's annual Take Back the Night event on April 15 at 7 p.m. at Harrison Square. Survivors can also submit stories anonymously to be read by volunteers at the event.

CRC's Annual Georgia Tech Fitness Challenge
|
Are you up for the challenge? Campus Recreation is hosting the annual Georgia Tech Fitness Challenge on April 4 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Challenge consists of five events — running, swimming, push-ups, pull-ups, and sit-ups — that are the same ones required by the U.S. Navy Seals training program.
Choose as many of these challenges as you want to compete in and see where you measure up. The first 150 people to participate in at least three challenges will get a free T-shirt, and you must compete in all five events to be eligible for a top prize.
The swim event will take place in the McAuley Aquatic Center, and all other events will take place on Roe Stamps field next to the CRC. The Challenge is FREE to all students, faculty, and staff. Visit our website to learn more.

Peer Coaching Program Now Accepting Applications for Peer Coaches
|
The Peer Coaching Program is a program developed by the Center for Mental Health Care and Resources to offer an innovative way for Tech students to access a unique type of support to facilitate academic and personal success. The PCP trains Tech students to provide one-on-one support and education to their peers and offers ongoing supervision in the provision of these services. The Center is now accepting applications from students who wish to be trained as a Peer Coach in Fall 2024. If you feel you would be a good fit and are ready to make an impact on the lives of your peers, please apply. Any questions can be sent to peercoaching@gatech.edu. The deadline to apply is April 26.

Set against the backdrop of a small Brazilian town, the film beautifully captures the essence of resilience and the universal quest for authenticity.
