The CLARIN Café, which is dedicated to the Journal of Open Humanities Data Special Collection “Language Data Reuse: Opportunities, Challenges and Best Practices,” is an event that aims to create a broader conversation on how different types of mono- and multilingual language resources, e.g. corpora, lexical resources, speech data, dialect data, historical datasets, and benchmarks for large language models, can be effectively reused, adapted, and extended for new research purposes.

Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID), a WDS partner member, is hosting a webinar titled “ORCID in Action: Connecting Asian Research,” which will focus on the Asian research landscape and will explore how ORCID serves as a critical tool for streamlining workflows, ensuring correct attribution, and enhancing the international standing of both individuals and their institutions.

The Digital Research Alliance of Canada’s Data Repositories Expert Group (DREG) has started a working group to develop guidance to help researchers select data repositories in fulfillment of the Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy data deposit requirement. This working group is conducting a literature review to identify characteristics across technical, operational, and organizational dimensions (including persistent identifiers, preservation, metadata, cybersecurity, data handling ethics, and Indigenous community engagement) with particular attention to Canadian priorities such as data sovereignty, bilingualism, and Tri-Agency alignment. A 90-minute community consultation webinar is being held to share preliminary results from this literature review and gather input on the characteristics identified.

Ghent University’s Department of Linguistics and Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication are hosting a Summer School focusing on “Methods in Language Sciences” from 13-17 July 2026. This program caters to junior and senior researchers from various scientific disciplines such as linguistics, translation and interpreting studies, psycholinguistics and language acquisition research, computational linguistics, sociolinguistics and pragmatics, linguistic ethnography, etc.

Registration closes at the end of June 2026.

The Institute of Contemporary History (INZ) is accepting applications for the fifth edition of its Visiting Fellowship for the academic year 2026-2027. Doctoral candidates, early career researchers, and senior academics working on contemporary political, social, or economic history and related fields, as well as digital humanities, are invited to apply for short-term residencies ranging from two weeks to two months.

The Archives & Records Association Conference 2026 will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from 5-7 August 2026 and will explore a theme of “authenticity.” This conference aims to explore and interrogate the tensions between preservation and destruction, between authenticity and interpretation, and between professional values and practical realities, while also considering how authenticity can be meaningfully embedded in theory, practice, and education.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is hosting the 2026 Global Conference on the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024-2033) on 15-17 July 2026 as a hybrid event in Paris, France. The conference will have the theme “Science in action: Charting a sustainable and equitable future for all” and will serve as a global platform to assess progress, share solutions, and forge the partnerships needed to mobilize science for sustainable development at scale.

The International Geographical Union (IGU) is hosting its IRC Regional Conference 2026 in Istanbul, Turkey, 17-21 August 2026. Participants can attend sessions reflecting the comprehensive perspective of Geography, meet with experts who will address important issues such as sustainable management of natural resources, climate change effects, protection of cultural heritage and digital geography, and share their knowledge and experiences, as well as establish new collaborations.

The ICSTI Annual Conference 2026, being hosted by WDS regular member Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), will be held in Seoul, South Korea, from 6-7 August 2026. Registration for the conference is now open.

The Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) is hosting its SCOR 2026 Annual Meeting 8-10 September 2026 in Helsinki, Finland. You can find the event schedule and more information here.

iPRES 2026 will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, and online from 21-25 September 2026. The conference themes are Community, Preservation, and Horizon, which encourage reflections on the evolving practices, innovations, and collaborations shaping the future of digital preservation.

The Singapore Open Research Conference 2026, being organized by WDS regular member DR-NTU (Data) and hosted by Nanyang Technological University, will take place in Singapore from 4-5 November 2026 with the theme “AI and Open Research: Building Trust, Ensuring Security, Driving Impact.” This conference aims to bring together researchers, research managers, librarians, research service providers, policy makers, funders, publishers, and leaders to explore how artificial intelligence is shaping open research and will examine important questions around trust, security, and impact, offering a platform to share insights, experiences, and best practices.

The Research Data Alliance (RDA) 27th Plenary Meeting (P27) will take place in London, United Kingdom, as an in-person event, 6-8 October 2026. P27 will be hosted by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) with the theme “Shaping a global open research commons.” RDA members are invited to submit a poster as an opportunity to share your work, ideas, and research data challenges with the global RDA community.

The call for presentation proposals is open and accepting multiple proposal types, including presentations, workshops, and lightning talks that showcase the flexibility and diversity of Fedora’s global community of users. The International Digital Curation Conference 2027 (IDCC) will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 9-12 February 2027. The theme of this conference is “FAIR DO's: Centring People in the Stewardship and Curation of Digital Objects.” The conference is accepting five submission types: Papers, Lightning Talks, Posters, Demos, and Workshops.

Submission Deadlines:

The 13th edition of the Web-as-Corpus (WaC-13) workshop will be held 24-29 October 2026 in Budapest, Hungary, and will provide a multidisciplinary forum for research addressing the full lifecycle of web data. Submissions for papers on methods, resources, and applications related to web corpora, with special emphasis on multilingual data and less-resourced languages are invited.

The Generative Decision Science Conference, being held from 26-27 November 2026 in Johannesburg, South Africa, aims to explore the transformative role of data-driven decision-making in addressing complex societal challenges and emphasizes open science, data stewardship, and evidence-based decision-making as critical enablers of inclusive development, particularly in emerging economies. The conference has an open call for papers and invites submissions from scholars, industry practitioners, and postgraduate students with research interests in the fields of Decision Science, Data Science, Information Science, Information Management, Knowledge Management, Information Systems, and other information studies.

The 15th edition of the Natural Language Processing (NLP) for Computer-Assisted Language Learning (NLP4CALL) will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 19-20 November 2026. This event is a meeting place for researchers working on integrating Natural Language Processing and Speech Technologies in Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) systems and exploring the theoretical and methodological issues arising in this connection.

The E-ARK Forum is seeking participation in the survey they have created to see how E-ARK specifications, tools, and the Reference Architecture are being used "in the wild.” The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

The National Digital Stewardship Alliance (NDSA) has released an update of their 2022 NDSA Web Archiving Survey. The results of this survey will be used to learn how and why institutions and independent practitioners worldwide use web archiving to accomplish collecting goals. The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Hackney Shed, an inclusive performing arts group for young people in London, England, is accepting applications for a Digital and Oral History Archivist. This role will lead the creation of an accessible digital timeline and oversee the collection, recording, and transcribing of oral histories that capture the voices and experiences of the community and will train and mentor both staff and young people in archival and oral history practices, building the skills and confidence of the wider team to sustain the archive beyond the life of the project.

The Australian Academy of Science is accepting nominations for the Selby Fellowship. These fellowships are awarded to distinguished overseas scientists to visit Australia for public lecture/seminar tours and to visit scientific centers. Fellows are expected to increase public awareness of the physical and biological sciences and scientific issues and to be outstanding lecturers to the general public.

The HiTZ Chair of Artificial Intelligence and Language Technology is offering specialized courses in Generative AI, Deep Learning, and Language Technology. This series of courses offers an immersion in the fields of deep learning, large language models (LLM) and their impactful applications, and covers topics ranging from fundamental principles to the most advanced methodologies. These courses are aimed at professionals, researchers, and students who wish to understand and apply the latest techniques in Artificial Intelligence.

The LEGO Foundation is accepting applications for its LEGO Foundation Fellowship, which is a global research fellowship for early- and mid-career researchers whose work can strengthen understanding of how children thrive across diverse contexts. The fellowship provides flexible support over a three-year period for researchers pursuing ambitious, rigorous, and practically relevant work and who have strong research potential, clear ideas for the next phase of their work, and a commitment to building evidence that can inform action for children.

The Open Repositories Steering Committee (ORSC) is accepting nominations for new standing members. The ORSC manages the annual Open Repositories Conference and typically consists of 12 standing members, as well as the chairs of the host and program committees for the annual conferences. New standing members will serve a 3-year term (Sep 2026-Aug 2029), with the option to renew for a second term.

The British Academy is offering awards of up to £8,000 for humanities and social sciences researchers to push boundaries and seek imaginative new ways to engage with the public through their SHAPE Involve and Engage public engagement program. They are seeking researchers from across the United Kingdom to deliver innovative public engagement projects working in partnership with a gallery, archive, library or museum (GLAM organization) or a performing arts organization.

A webinar for the wider public, designed to introduce the SHAPE Involve and Engage 2027–28 call, outline the application process, and provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions, will be hosted on 29 June 2026 at 17:00 UTC.

Applications for the Adam Kilgarriff Prize, a prize intended for young researchers in the fields of corpus linguistics, language technologies, and lexicography, are open for the sixth iteration of the award. The winner of the prize will receive EUR 2500, perpetual Sketch Engine access, the option of a lecture or demo session at the eLex conference, and a recommendation to the conference’s program committee as an invited speaker, if willing. Additionally, the winner may be given one of the keynote slots to give the Adam Kilgarriff Lecture (subject to the committee’s agreement).

The Endangered Languages Documentation Programme (ELDP) is offering multiple grants for the documentation of endangered languages globally. ELDP invites applications from documenters from language communities, local scholars, and students from the country where the language is spoken/signed, as well as collaborative and interdisciplinary projects.

The North Carolina State University Libraries is hiring a Data Science Librarian. This role provides expert consultative support, workshop-based training, and course-integrated instruction for students, faculty, and researchers in the areas of data science and visualization and leads the Data Science Services (DSS) Department’s support around tabular data, spreadsheet software and tools, and data visualizations, while also contributing to other data science topics aligned with their skills and patron’s needs.

The Goergen Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, at the University of Rochester, is accepting applications for the Dalal Family Postdoctoral Fellowship in AI Ethics. This fellowship supports applied research on AI and its societal impact, informing policy and addressing real-world ethical challenges across human life. Future Dalal Family Postdoctoral Fellows will receive a stipend, mentorship, teaching opportunities, and support for interdisciplinary collaboration for one to two years.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting on 1 July 2026 until the position has been filled.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Data Science Strategy (ODSS) is offering multiple grant opportunities that can be applied for on the NIH Grants & Funding website. The grants available span across scientific disciplines and career levels and have varying submission deadlines.

The National Digital Stewardship Alliance (NDSA) released its 2025 NDSA Fixity Survey Report. This report analyzes 89 completed survey responses to queries about fixity practices, what causes fixity errors, and how participants address fixity errors.

The article “Structural assurance inflation: perspectives on the value of trustworthy digital repository certification,” by Rebecca D. Frank, examines how staff members from CoreTrustSeal-certified repositories characterize the primary value of Trustworthy Digital Repository certification, which addresses a gap in empirical research about the value and/or benefits of certification.

“Data Infrastructure in Global South Sciences Systems” is a technology profile commissioned for Phase II of the Emerging technologies and transformations project, which is part of the International Science Council’s Science Systems Futures project, that “identifies four recurring institutional pathways through which science systems configure data storage and sharing infrastructure.” Meredith Goins (WDS-IPO Executive Director), Daniela Santos Oliviera (WDS-IPO Program Manager), and Reyna Broadhurst (WDS-ITO Director) are credited as reviewers on this profile.
