Thanksgiving Holiday

Gobble! Gobble! A reminder that St. Michael's will be CLOSED Wednesday-Friday, November 22-24, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Extended Day is also closed.

Emails and calls received during that time will be addressed on Monday, November 27. Wishing all of our Dragons a safe and blessed holiday!

Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting

(Important Note: EXTENDED DAY closes that day at 4:30 p.m.)
Join us for a festive evening that includes a float parade around The Green, choral performances, all-school caroling, and lighting of the Christmas tree. Santa himself will even make a special appearance. It is sure to get you in the holiday spirit! (Stay tuned for more details and important parking information.)

Development Office Welcome

St. Michael's extends a warm welcome to Chasity Craft as she joins our Development Office as an Advancement Associate. Chasity comes to us with a background in fundraising/development, corporate philanthropy, and special events, along with human resources management, having worked in the Development Office of Children’s Hospital & VCU Children’s Medical Center (Children's Miracle Network).

She honed her skills at esteemed companies like Bon Secours Health System, Gund, and the Virginia Information Technology Agency. She also brings a strong knowledge of donor database management/CRM, and volunteer/vendor management.  Chasity is excited to get to know our St M families and to dive into all of the exciting activities underway in the Development Office.
Chasity's husband, Christian, is a 1990 alum of St. Michael's and she has two teenagers, Carter and Cate. Welcome to the team, Chasity!

Lower School Thanksgiving Reading Bingo

Lower School students, over the Thanksgiving holiday, check off the reading activities you complete over the break on THIS BINGO CARD. Ask an adult to sign the bottom. If you get 3 in a row, bring the card to the Library after the break for a prize! Happy Reading!

Policies for Student Absences

We encourage parents to make thoughtful decisions about taking students out of school for optional activities as absences place students at an academic disadvantage.

Assignments will not be provided in advance. Students are encouraged to read daily, to complete any long-term assignments, and Middle School students may check Google Classroom.

Absences:
  • When a student is going to miss school for any reason, please contact the school office, as well as the teacher/advisor, as soon as possible.
  • Students who are absent or who leave school early due to illness may not participate in co-curricular activities or extended programs on the same day or evening.
  • Students who have excessive absences (more than 20 school days in a single school year) must present a written appeal to the Head of School to be considered for academic credit for the year.
Make-Up Work Policy: A student is given a number of days equal to the number of days absent (up to 5 days maximum) to complete make-up work. It is the responsibility of the student to make sure assignments are completed satisfactorily and submitted. Thak you for your support.
