What plans do you have for the summer? Are you taking any summer classes?
A better question to ask since this COVID-19 crisis might be what my plans for the summer were! Nothing like a global pandemic to put a damper on short-to-medium term planning. I am taking an online summer class, which will hopefully instill some sense of normalcy. But I’m hoping things will stabilize enough for me to head up home. The Great Lakes region is breathtaking in the summer- and I really miss being by the water.
Since we can’t travel, what fictional world or place would you like to visit?
A galaxy a long time ago and far far away. Alternately, I’m still waiting for my letter from Hogwarts.
Do you have a secret talent?
It’s probably not a talent per se, but I’m pretty good at remembering sequences of numbers- dates, passwords, you name it. It’s ironic since mathematics is not my forte and I have a poor memory generally. I experience synesthesia- which is a psychological condition that’s more or less a “cross-wiring” of two or more senses. So I can “see” number sequences as patterns or random moving images in my mind. It’s great for memorization but it makes arithmetic difficult because it can get distracting.
