This week is International Education Week!International Education Week (IEW) at NYU is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse perspectives of cultures that international education and exchange worldwide bring to our community. Through performances, lectures, films, displays, and workshops highlighting opportunities both in the US and abroad, IEW is celebrated to increase our community's cross-cultural awareness, curiosity, and knowledge. IEW: How to Get Jobs as an International Student
In celebration of International Education Week, we welcome Marcelo Barros, the author of The International Advantage Get Noticed, Get Hired! He has spent over two decades advising international students looking to work in the US after graduation. In this session, specifically prepared for international students, Marcelo will share strategies that international students of any major can utilize to tilt the balance in their favor and secure more job interviews.

With six comics from around the world (Rufat Agayev, Zarna Garg, Peng Dang, Eman Morgan, TJ, and Jocelyn Chia), and emceed by Ahmed Abdelrahman, you're sure to get lots of laughs. If you’re interested in comedy that resonates with an international experience in the US this event is for you!

IEW: Etiquette Around the World
What’s considered polite behavior in one country may be rude in another. Respectful and culturally appropriate behavior is important wherever in the world we are. Discuss with both international students and students who have returned to NYC from NYU’s global sites abroad as we consider etiquette around the world. We’ll also touch on how our international experiences change us and our behaviors. Snacks and refreshments provided.

IEW Dining for Success: Dinner Etiquette in the US
Professional connections can be made in a variety of settings. In the United States, interviews or networking can happen over lunch or dinner. Join the Office of Global Services and the Wasserman Center for Career Development for an interactive and informative dining experience to learn how to conduct yourself professionally in these contexts. We encourage you to dress professionally according to your industry’s standards for this 3 course business dinner.

IEW: Canadian Express Entry Session
Looking for a permanent immigration solution? Have you considered Canada? Representatives from the Consulate General of Canada will be at NYU on to do a presentation covering a wide range of topics including the process to become a Canadian permanent resident via the Express Entry program, work opportunities in Canada, the advantages of studying in Canada, and more! International and American citizen students in any discipline are welcome, as well as current and graduated students.

Snack and Share: A conversation on education, culture, and identity for international students
Come join us for a casual chat with OGS staff to share how we navigate new cultures and education systems, and the impact these experiences have on our understanding of ourselves and the world. The goal of this session is to spark conversation with peers regarding identity, cultural adjustment, and the value of travel and continual learning.. International students are encouraged to bring a NYU friend if they’d like. Light snacks will be served.

IEW: Private film screening of PASANG: In the Shadow of Everest

Join producer Christy McGill for NYU’s private film screening of PASANG: In the Shadow of Everest which chronicles Pasang Lhamu Sherpa’s tragic and inspiring journey to become the first Nepali woman to summit Everest in 1993. Her determined pursuit of Everest plays out within the context of her nation’s quest for democracy and the emergence of the commercial climbing industry. As told by the Nepalis who knew her, by some of the world’s most notable alpinists, and by Pasang herself, PASANG: The Shadow of Everest, documents her historic quest that would transfix her country and uplift a new generation’s belief in its possibilities. This week, we will explore different neighborhoods in New York City and New Jersey along with what all of them have to offer. We know that choosing the right neighborhood for your next apartment can be daunting so we will guide you through the process where you can learn more about the history, local restaurants, and famous locations within these neighborhoods around us. This will also be a great opportunity to practice your English, learn new vocabulary, and make new friends! Offered by CSL.
