In three days we will celebrate Christ's crucifixion on Good Friday. When was your crucifixion? Paul told the Galatians in 2:20 that he had been crucified with Christ. When Paul used the words, "In Christ," he meant that what happened to Jesus happened also to all who believe in him. Paul was crucified on the road to Damascus.
Before Christ was crucified he said, "If anyone wants to come after me, let them deny themselves, take up their crosses daily and follow me." Bonhoeffer said, "When Christ calls us he calls us to come and die."
One thing that must die is the flesh with its passions and desires. John said the lust of the flesh does not come from the Father but from the world. Once we die to self, then we come to life in the Spirit. By the Holy Spirit's power, we live a brand new life. Old things are gone. All is renewed.
A. W. Tozer said, "People who are crucified with Christ have three distinct marks: They are facing only one direction, they can never turn back, and they no longer have plans of their own." So which day this week will you celebrate your crucifixion? Why not today?
