Meet IN!'s New Staff Member, Shayna Laing...

Hello all! I find myself writing this introduction to you with a smile plastered across my face as a reflection of my gratitude to play an active part in increasing college pathways for individuals with ID, my anticipation of all that is ahead for our state and our students, and my true joy to be partnering with you as IN!’s new Community Engagement Coordinator.

It was an early interaction with IN! that shaped the direction of my career, spurring me to focus on post-secondary services for students with disabilities. From working with Stepping Stone Support Center for Adults with Developmental Disabilities to being the Elevate at ACC Academic Support Professional, and most recently serving CCU as the Coordinator of Student Success and Accessibility, I have only increased my passion to be right where I am today - fighting for greater access to college and meaningful outcomes for students with intellectual disabilities in Colorado.

Colorado has been home to me for nearly 10 years. I live near Golden with my amazingly supportive husband and our unnecessarily spoiled dog, Willow. When I am not reading books at a local coffee shop, I love to practice yoga and adventure through the mountains with my little family.

I am humbled to join this amazing team of change-makers and look forward to championing students with ID alongside you!

The Croquet Soiree is in Full Swing!

Professional Development Opportunity For Educators:

We are here to support you as you kick off the new school year. IN! has developed a five-part, self-paced video series for teachers and/or service providers that want to better understand college options for students with intellectual disabilities in our state. We highly encourage you to work through each module in order to best resource the students and families you serve. Additionally, you will receive a certificate of completion that you can submit for professional development credit. Checkout the link below to get started.

IN!'s First Alumni Gathering Was a Blast!

Our young professional board met up with recent graduates to enjoy good drinks, food, and company at Mountain Toad Brewing in Golden. We had the chance to hear about what these alumni are up to since graduating, such as interning with a media company or living independently. We are so proud of all they are accomplishing!

Stay tuned - we will be planning more alumni gatherings in the future so that our beloved graduates can celebrate, connect, and continue reaching goals together.
