On Sept. 4, we officially launched this year’s Wear the White Coat program with our annual “pre-op” breakfast! Community leaders, city officials and legislators gathered to meet their physician preceptors and get a behind-the-scenes look at the history of the white coat, HIPAA compliance, and more. The real adventure begins as participants step into physicians’ shoes through shadowing experiences in the weeks ahead. We’ll reunite in November to share stories and celebrate what they’ve learned. Congratulations to the Wear the White Coat Class of 2025!

In an upcoming issue of Louisville Medicine, we will be publishing a special feature to recognize and honor veterans within our GLMS physician community. We invite you to help us celebrate your fellow physicians by sharing your own story – if you have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, we’d be honored to feature you.
Whether you served decades ago or are recently retired, we want to show our appreciation and share your story with our readers.
Please send the following information by September 28:
|
- Branch of service
- Years of service
- A photo (optional but encouraged)
- Reflections from service (optional but encouraged)
|
You may submit your nominations to kathryn.vance@glms.org with the subject line: “Veteran Feature Submission” or simply reply to this email.
Thank you for helping us recognize the service and sacrifice of those who have given so much for our country.

From growing up in Owensboro to becoming a beloved pediatrician in Louisville, Dr. Ochs has always been guided by compassion, perseverance and a love for her patients. “I like to know who you are when I walk in the room, your background and story, and getting to grow with you. Building those relationships is what I love.” Balancing a thriving private practice, two daughters, and family life, Dr. Ochs exemplifies dedication both in medicine and at home. Her passion for patient care and continuity of relationships is what makes her a doctor that patients and parents trust.
