Mirroring the fast pace of change in the world of AI, this one-day event will feature a morning of lightning talks across three “Blitzes”, highlighting innovations and leading thinking from Venture, Industry and Academia. The conversation will continue during a networking lunch with fellow innovators followed by an afternoon of breakout sessions for a deeper dive into how AI is impacting innovation.

D.Sole Co-founders Win $25K Investment at the Rice Business Plan Competition
Forty-two of the best student ventures from top universities across the world competed in front of nearly 350 angel, venture capital and corporate investors on April 4-6, 2024 at the 2024 Rice Business Plan Competition. Among the finalists was D.Sole, a smart insole that utilizes multimodal sensors for the early detection and monitoring of foot complications such as ulcers in diabetic patients, co-founded by CMU's James R. Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellows Saisri Akondi and Zilin Zhang.

The team bought home $5K in cash and $25K investment from Rice Alliance. D.Sole is currently participating in the Techstars Healthcare Accelerator in Los Angeles, CA.

Advanced Optronics CEO Jay Reddy Is Helping Surgeons
Do Their Job Better


Jay Reddy, a California native, came to Pittsburgh to attend Carnegie Mellon University for graduate school, and decided to stick around to co-found and run Advanced Optronics Inc., a Pittsburgh-based biotech company that uses sensor technology and flexible materials to help surgeons do their jobs better. Jay was recently featured in the Pittsbugh Business Times' Personalities of Pittsburgh.

Galen Health To Compete at Hult Prize Mumbai Summit 2024
Galen Health, founded by Logan Nye, MD (James R. Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellow), has been officially selected to compete at the Hult Prize Mumbai 2024 Summit hosted in partnership with SDA Bocconi Asia Center on June 7- 9, 2024. The company's flagship product OncoSight, harnesses advanced artificial intelligence (AI) for early cancer detection and treatment, with a primary focus on pancreatic cancer.

CMU Tepper School of Business Student Invites You to
Cookout on the Quad on April 16


The Cookout on the Quad is an annual, charity cookout donating $1 to Feeding America with every meal sold. This brand new project launched in the fall 2023 semester and donated 1,800+ meals to individuals, couples and families in need through Feeding America. The Cookout on the Quad team will be hosting a table at the Farmer's Market this Tuesday, April 16, from 11 AM - 1 PM at Legacy Plaza, located between the Cohon University Center and West Wing, and will be collecting Feeding America donations as well as raffle tickets for a prize.

This project, founded and run by Tepper School of Business student Michael Maddalon and sponsored by Chartwells Higher Ed, is proud to support local communities suffering from food insecurity.
APPLICATION DEADLINES
Apply for the Innovation Commercialization Fellows Program by April 15!

The Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship has opened applications for the 2024-2025 Innovation Commercialization Fellows program. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows working with faculty investigators and are interested in driving the commercialization efforts for their Carnegie Mellon University research-based startup are eligible to apply.

This is a year-long program that will begin on July 1, 2024. Along with cohort-based educational workshops and expert one-on-one mentoring, Fellows will receive a $50K contribution from the Swartz Center, contingent on a $50K match from another source, to support them while they focus on the commercialization process. Apply to the CMU Robotics Institute Pathways Fellowship

The Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute Pathways Fellowship is recruiting for its second cohort. This is an immersive program aimed at empowering entrepreneurs within the domains of robotics, manufacturing and automation. Scheduled to run from August 19, 2024, to May 15, 2025, The Pathways Fellowship blends essential componentsincluding financial support, academic opportunities from Carnegie Mellon University, mentorship and off campus supplemental opportunitiesto ensure aspiring founders have the skills and support needed to succeed. This program was created to elevate marginalized entrepreneurs within robotics. BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) individuals and women are encouraged to apply.
