“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” Mary Oliver asked. How would you answer? If we are reading this today, God has deemed to give us another day. With the Psalmist, we all can exclaim, “The Lord has done great things for us. We are filled with joy.” We choose what we will do with the life God has given us.
John contrasts two men who received miracles at Jesus’ hand. Remember the lame man who was lying by the pool of Bethesda for thirty-eight years? Jesus healed his legs. After his encounter with the Pharisees, Jesus told him to go and sin no more. The man ran to the authorities and told on Jesus. John does not tell us that he believed or came to faith.
Here we read a remarkable story about Jesus healing a man blind from birth. As he received his physical sight, the man began a journey of receiving spiritual sight. After a series of meetings, the Pharisees threw him out. Jesus found him, too. But this man chose to believe in Jesus and worshiped him.
If you are ever thrown out, you can count on Jesus to find you. When he allows you to believe in him, will you? Christ has already accomplished our spiritual healing through his death and resurrection. He wants more for us than just our physical healing. He invites us to believe in him today. So, tell me. What are you planning to do with your one wild and precious life? Give it all back to God and see what he will do for you.
