Good morning! More than 1,000 students are set to earn degrees from Clemson University this week. Clemson’s Sustainable Packaging Innovation Lab (SPIL) has awarded $2.5 million to support the development of cutting-edge sustainable packaging solutions; a researcher explores the bond between man and dog.

What to know today:

More than 1,000 students are set to earn degrees from Clemson University this week. Doctoral Commencement and Commencement for bachelor’s and master’s graduates are scheduled to be held in Littlejohn Coliseum.

- Doctoral Commencement is set for 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, followed by Commencement for bachelor’s and master’s degree candidates at 9 a.m. on Friday, August 8. Both ceremonies will be streamed on ClemsonTV.

Clemson’s Sustainable Packaging Innovation Lab (SPIL) has awarded $2.5 million to support the development of cutting-edge sustainable packaging solutions. These efforts are aimed at ensuring U.S. specialty crops remain competitive in global markets.

Mashrur “Ronnie” Chowdhury, the Eugene Douglas Mays Chair of Transportation and a professor of civil engineering, has been honored with the 2025 IEEE Intelligence and Security Informatics (ISI) Technical Achievement Award for his work in making transportation systems smarter and more secure.
