Grad Council Legal Advising

Grad Council provides graduate students access to legal advising. Students can use this service for advice on legal matters including immigration, landlord/tenant issues, false identification matters, criminal issues, credit and debt issues, dissolution of marriage, automobile accidents, business formations, and parking/traffic violations. All ages are welcome. There will be a simple craft, along with a coloring corner, toys for pre-crafters, and coffee and snacks for all. And if you don't have children, but just love crafts and good company, you can come, too!

GC's Event Fund is LIVE
Applications due online by Friday, December 12
If you are planning a Winter event for graduate students and need financial support, the Graduate Council Event Fund Round 1 deadline has been extended to Friday, December 12. The fund supports interdivisional graduate programming with awards up to $2,000 per event, and proposals are evaluated by the Graduate Council in partnership with UChicagoGRAD. Please review the FAQ carefully before applying, and note that funding is competitive and not guaranteed.

Close out the quarter with Holiday Cocoa & Crafts, an evening of warm drinks, festive treats, and hands-on activities co-hosted with Christkindlmarket. Tickets include hot cocoa and an official Christkindlmarket mug, with an optional VIP upgrade that adds a wreath-making workshop. The Chicago Center on Democracy’s Graduate Student Affiliates network is an interdisciplinary group of graduate students who share research interests in topics related to democracy. They meet regularly for professional development, peer review, social events, and other discussions. In addition, the Center will provide modest financial support for Graduate Student Affiliates who wish to organize lectures or other events related to democracy.
