St. Michael's Community Survey Strong parent/family engagement is a core strength of the St. Michael's community. As St. Michael's values input and feedback from our families, a community survey was emailed on Wednesday, April 27. Our goal is to solicit feedback from our families every year via this annual survey.
Please remember that all responses go directly to an outside consulting firm and are strictly confidential. No email or personal information is captured. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts by midnight tomorrow, Monday, May 2.

Our Fouth Graders Take Center Stage!
Today is an exciting day for our fourth graders as they take the stage at Center Stage to celebrate a yearlong study of ecology through dance!
Featuring over 1300 students from area schools, this joyful culminating "Minds in Motion" performance is one of the signature events of the Richmond Ballet calendar each year and St. Michael's is so pleased to be participating for the first time. Alongside professional Richmond Ballet company dancers with costumes and sets, our students will bring the story of The Gift to life, which follows a young boy and girl as they explore the gifts that nature can bring to the human world, and what may happen should mankind fail to preserve such precious gifts. Inspired by Doug Tallamy and his work in entomology, ecology and wildlife conservation, The Gift reminds us that we all possess the power to make a difference in the health of our planet.
To all of our fabulous fourth graders: Break a leg today! We all are rooting for you as you take the stage and wish you a fabulous performance experience! Dragon Pride!

| Welcome Dr. Kathryn Best
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Kathryn Best as our new Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment.
Dr. Best, Katie to her friends, is currently the Director of the Academic Resource Center at Trinity Episcopal School, where she previously taught middle and upper school English. Dr. Best is not only familiar with St. Michael’s as a mud-on-her-boots adult working with our students and graduates, she was a Dragon herself from kindergarten through second grade until her family moved out of town. Dr. Best is an adjunct instructor at VCU in the Graduate School of Education, having served the same role at the University of Kansas. She began her teaching career as an English teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School. Dr. Best holds a B.A. in English and secondary education, cum laude, from the University of Richmond, as well as a M.A. in literature from VCU. She earned her Ph.D. from VCU, where her dissertation research centered on Universal Design for Learning, which provides flexible approaches for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that work for all students and learning styles.
Welcome aboard!
