Investing in our Future: A Message from Federation CEO Gil Preuss

As CEO of The Jewish Federation, I have the unique opportunity to connect with many of the talented and committed people who lead and sustain Jewish Greater Washington through their work on behalf of our local agencies and congregations. Last week, I was honored to address the annual gathering of more than 700 educators from more than 52 Jewish early childhood centers in the Greater Washington area during Federation’s Jewish Early Childhood Education (ECE) Conference. I was inspired by their obvious passion for their work, and by the theme of this year’s conference: achrayut, responsibility. What does it mean to be responsible in today’s world? How do we raise responsible children? We all want to raise our children to become responsible adults but what does that mean for us as a Jewish community?

If you have an idea for bringing people together, PJ Library wants to help make it a reality with a grant of $150, available now for PJ Library families. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, December 20.

Four Easy Ways to Spread Your Light in our Community

During this special time of year, we are grateful for the wonderful and supportive Jewish community of Greater Washington. Together we are having a positive impact on many, locally and overseas. To ensure that the critical needs of those who are struggling continue to be met with compassion and kindness, and that our community’s future is strong, please consider making a gift to Federation’s Annual Campaign by December 31. Given a strong stock market and possible changes in the tax law, it’s a great opportunity to secure the value of your year-end charitable donation and make a difference in someone’s life.
