October 2018 Update
New Web Content
We are excited to unveil the following new content:
  • IAM Program at a Glance – One-page program overview including the main drivers for IAM and benefits for specific audiences
  • Microsoft Active Directory – Describes the complementary effort underway to find a path forward from the University’s complex current Active Directory state
Check the website often as content will be added and updated continually.
External IAM Project Pilot
The IAM team has partnered with the Department of Medical Ethics & Health Policy (MEHP) to pilot a new standard single sign-on solution for non-PennKey users for their online learning program. Currently, the team is working with MEHP on functional requirements and design as well as working to acquire a license with an appropriate vendor. After the pilot, we will evaluate the tools for broader use across campus.
Related Initiatives
  • Two-Step Verification – The enrollment deadline for faculty is October 31, 2018, and for all undergraduate and graduate students is February 14, 2019. ISC is working with School and Center representatives on the planning and rollout. Currently, all staff and more than half of the faculty are enrolled.
  • Microsoft Active Directory – An effort is underway to assess both on-premises and Azure Active Directory instances and how they fit into the University’s overall IAM environment. Preliminary findings will be available as part of a wider-ranging Microsoft strategy document in early fall 2018.
What’s Next
The IAM team is currently working on a phased functional roadmap to lay out the framework and strategic plan for the overall IAM program. Information sessions with our campus partners will be scheduled this quarter to solicit input and feedback.
