Alumni and Friends,
Welcome to the latest issue of E-Viewpoints, the newsletter for the College of Human Sciences at Texas Tech University. In this edition, I am honored to share with you the many ways that our students, alumni, faculty, and staff continue to commit their research, learning, and outreach efforts to better the health and wellness of people around the world.
As the 2024 spring semester is underway, I want to take a moment to highlight a few of the many exciting things we have taking place within the college. We have recently introduced a new academic department, Interdisciplinary Human Sciences, and three new majors including applied personal finance, event management, and fashion merchandising. Our faculty continues to collaborate with others from across campus and around the country and internationally. This interdisciplinary collaboration is at the core of our college and will enable us to impact more individuals and communities. We are also continuing to grow our team with the addition of several new faculty members and an assistant director of development, Brady Subart. Our students and faculty remain at the forefront of innovative and inspiring academic activity.
I am delighted to share the stories of the people of our college. Our alumni continue to inspire me as they have a profound impact on their professions and communities. I encourage you to continue to share your latest news and updates. We look forward to joining you in celebrating your life’s milestones and accomplishments.

Tim Dodd, Ph.D.
Dean, College of Human Sciences

Human Sciences BS & BSN Dual Degree—20% of Student Body
Trending Now: Dual Degree in Human Sciences (B.S.) and Nursing (BSN) Sees Record Number of Students—20% of Student Body
In 2019, the College of Human Sciences was approved to offer students the opportunity to complete a dual degree between the B.S. in Human Sciences and the B.S. in Nursing. Dual degree students need to meet the necessary prerequisites for nursing school, complete an additional 13 hours of courses specific to human sciences, be successfully admitted into the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing, and then graduate with two diplomas. Today, the major hosts 20% of the student body in Human Sciences.
