Fall is here on campus as the weather begins to change. Speaking with students in my UNV 101 class this morning, they're beginning to feel the weight of assignments and involvement commitments for the semester too. As we move into the middle third of the semester, remind them that they can be successful here and to reach out when they need assistance - from an RA, friend, faculty member, or one of the many campus resources available.
As always, review past issues of this newsletter on our Stay in Touch page.
Love and Honor,
Joe Hawkins

Every car parked on campus must have a valid permit at ALL times, including visitors on the weekends unless parked in the parking garage or at a meter. Visitor permits are available for purchase at: https://miamioh.edu/parking/permits/index.html. As a reminder, students may not purchase visitor permits.
Unless the area is otherwise marked or restricted, students with any valid permit can park in any color designation between 6:00pm - 7:00am, Monday - Thursday. They need to make sure their car is moved before 7:00am the following morning. Likewise, unless the area is otherwise marked or restricted, students with any valid permit can also park in any color designation beginning 6:00pm Friday through 7:00am Monday morning. Just like during the week, their car must be moved before 7:00am Monday morning.
For example, a student with a holding lot (yellow) permit, can park on campus in a red or blue space (unless restricted or marked) during the times listed above.
During the semester, if your student needs to load or unload items into their car from their residence hall or academic building, take advantage of our login policy. Students simply need to call Parking Services at 513-529-2224 with their car/permit/location information. We will provide them with 20 minutes to park for loading/unloading. If a student needs this service after business hours or on the weekend, they need to send an email to parking@MiamiOH.edu with these details and we will honor the request.

If your student is not doing as well as they would like in one or more courses, now is the time for them to visit their instructor during office hours. Talking with a professor can be intimidating, but your student should know that there are strategies for effectively using office hours. The Rinella Learning Center staff has developed a brief online module to help your student prepare for and meet with an instructor.
