The Saklan School. Pre-K Through 8. think. act. live
Dear Saklan Community,

On March 21st, The Saklan School will align our indoor mask policy with the California Department of Public Health’s new guidelines. On that Monday, we will move from mandatory indoor masking to strongly recommended indoor masking. The extra week will give us time to adjust our protocols and understand the impact of the evolving county guidelines regarding close contacts or positive cases.

Please note that as of March 21st, the following situations will still require indoor masking:
  • After a known exposure in the community or at school
  • After testing positive for COVID-19
  • In school vehicles (buses and vans) as well as on public transportation
  • When required to by an outside organization to participate in a specific event

Students and employees should make the choice that is right for them and their families. We ask our community to respect and receive with kindness the varying comfort levels and family values of our teachers, students, and families, and to reinforce this message of tolerance with your students at home.

Continued Mitigation Strategies:
  • Weekly testing of all students and staff
  • Focus on ventilation, open windows and doors when possible
  • Weekly Health Attestation
  • Rapid Antigen testing as needed
  • Rapid testing students returning to school from out of state field experiences
  • Rapid testing all students, faculty and staff before returning from Spring Break

Please keep in mind that while this is a step in the right direction, conditions may change, and we may need to implement mandatory masking again.

We appreciate your continued support and partnership.

Warm regards,
David
